Lying at the foot of Mt. Fuji, this track is one of Japan's most important racing courses. Thanks to the long straightaways at the start/finish lines speeds of up to 350km/h are not unusual. With some long, drawn-out curves the track is altogether very fast. An accident which caused two deaths in 1977 led to no races being held in Japan until 1987.

The Yas Island racetrack was completed in October of 2009. The first race was held just one month later. As in Monaco, the track is laid out on public roads. Here, however, the sections were optimized for high speed racing. Very striking is the Yas Hotel situated right next to the track, which is brilliantly lit up at night.
